6 Easy Ways to Refresh Your Health & Wellness

We are all so busy with hectic schedules, we often forget to take time to focus on ourselves. Self-care can be overlooked in importance amongst the daily chaos of life, but making it a priority is essential to feeling and operating at your best. Choosing to implement consistent daily, weekly, and monthly “refresh” tasks can be the perfect catalyst for balanced mental clarity and well-being.

We've compiled a list of 6 simple things everyone should make a conscious effort to do on a consistent basis:

1. Organize and Declutter

Taking some time over the weekend or in the evening to organize and declutter small areas at a time can do wonders for mental clarity. When everything is in its rightful place and the space around you is tidy and clear, your mind is able to do the same - feel clear and organized. Even simply going through the house and closing drawers and cabinets, putting pillows in place, and making the bed can do wonders for feeling more at ease with clutter. Choose one area or room in your house each week to tackle and get to a place that feels good to you!

2. Replace Old Bedding

Washing your sheets should be done weekly using warm water to get the very best out of them, but as with most things, there comes a point where they need to be replaced. Even the highest quality bedding will begin to show obvious signs of wear and tear, in which case they should be replaced. Rough, pilling, or torn sheets can lead to restless nights and unhappy mornings. Sheets and bedding are one thing that you should always treat yourself to, as there is a direct correlation between quality of sleep and mood and productivity. Pro Tip: thread count is not the most important thing when it comes to sheets, regardless of what you’ve heard. Microfiber and 10% combed cotton will give you the most quality, comfort, and durability!

3. Eating to Feel Good + Drinking More Water

A balanced diet is one of the best ways you can make a change in feeling your best. Choosing foods that are high in nutrients and benefit your body (as difficult as that may be sometimes) will give you a noticeable difference in your daily routine and is something that is definitely attainable with a bit of planning. Once you have found which foods make your body operate at its best, you’ll want to continue to eat them! Drinking enough water is an essential commitment you should be making to yourself. Water is important for muscles, skin, normal bodily function, and more.

4. Take Your Vitamins - They Matter

When your body is not receiving the essential vitamins and nutrients it needs on a daily basis, it is unable to perform at its optimal level. The list of possible symptoms from vitamin deficiency range from being a pesky health nuisance to being dangerous for your health. Getting a blood test to determine your current vitamin levels is a great way to plan for which vitamins you may need to supplement with. If you can’t fulfill your daily recommended vitamin intake with your diet, choosing foods fortified with vitamins, taking supplements, and drinking Vitamin-Infused Coffee or Tea are convenient and effective ways to accomplish this.

5. Quick Workouts

Getting exercise is essential for aging, as it can help prevent the complications that arise from being sedentary, can combat brain aging and memory loss, and reduce the risk of heart disease. You can do squats, lunges, and push-ups about anywhere. You can even lift some light weights while sitting in bed watching your favorite show at night! Take 10-15 minutes minimum per day to do some light stretching and exercise to maximize your overall health.

6. Spend Time With Nature

If you’re in need of immediate self-care and feeling overwhelmed, one of the best ways to gain mental clarity and feel grounded is to take in nature. It’s difficult to feel overwhelmed when you’re watching the waves roll in on the sand or sitting on top of a mountain overlooking the trees below. Head to the nearest “happy place,” which could even be a place in your house that calms you, and try to simply breathe and block out the world for 10-20 minutes. You’ll be amazed how something so small can make such a large impact.

In conclusion

This list is not meant to be overwhelming or be accomplished all in one day. These small, but important changes can make all the difference in keeping your mind and body feeling clear, happy, and ready to take on the morning!
